Geetanjali Sharma, the elder daughter of Mamta Sharma and Mahendra Sharma was seated infront of the people that were all but her family.

They were the Mehta’s, her step mother Mamta’s parents and they wanted to have a deal with her.

A deal that would secure their future.

They wanted their daughter Mamta and their granddaughter Maniha back in their lives and in return they will make sure that geet would get a comfortable life.

All she had to do was to agree to their demands and then vanish in thin air. But not before negotiating. Geet knew that she would have to leave afterall she was still the unwanted child for them.

Their daughter Mamta had raised an orphan and orphans do not need to be treated well.

Mehta’s were shrewd, they knew that only geet could help them.

“You have my word.. once Maniha is married I will leave.” Geet told them without a doubt.

She had to make sure that her sister and mother are well settled. Her meagre salary couldn’t sustain their household for long. After her father, she had used and taken care of the expenses and now their position wasn’t good.

With her education and Maniha’s the savings were already exhausted and their home had already been sold for her father’s illness.

“Theek hai… We will make sure to take care of your stay and the rest.” Mr. Mehta told her.

The Mehta patriarch didn’t want this girl to come with her daughter and he knew how to deal with her.

“No, there will be no need for that. Just make sure to take care of mama. I don’t need anything else. Now, i need to go.” Geet stood up elegantly and left without looking back.

She had done what was needed. This would secure her mother and her sister. She knew that Maniha was the only heir of Mehta’s and atleast they would be well once her mother agrees.

The Uproar that Mamta Sharma created once she got to know about her daughter’s decision was something Geetanjali Sharma couldn’t even thought.

Her step mother, Mamta had been everything that she could have asked for as a mother. The care, love and affection that Mamta who was the only daughter of the wealthy industrialist bestowed on her she couldn’t even fathom.

Mamta had rebelled against her own parents when she had eloped with her father who was nothing but a mere clerk at that time, being already married with a child but that didn’t deterred Mamta from loving a widower and loving his daughter accepting her as her own.

“Mama it’s completely fine. Maniha would be married in a good family and we will be secured.” Geet tried to reason her mother.

Mamta looked at her twenty four year old who was matured beyond her years. Her husband’s loss six years back had been bad enough for her eldest daughter to grow up and look after her grieving mother and younger sister but now she was also ready to sacrifice herself made her look at the situation.

“Geet, you are my daughter. How can you suggest this even?” Mamta looked at her both daughters who were seated with her.

“Mama, Mehta’s have been calling you. They want to reconcile. Please mama. It will be all good. Maniha’s future would be secured. Plus i am not even interested in getting married.”

Geet reasoned her mother.

“But didi that’s not done.” Maniha told her displeasure.

“I am not going to get married before you. how could you even think like that? Mama look what your daughter is saying.”

Maniha Sharma was the younger daughter of Mahendra and Mamta Sharma. She had completed her bachelor’s and wasn’t even interested in further studies.

All she wanted was to get the job and help the household like her geet didi.

“Maniha it is the only solution. You know how we have survived till now. Our finances are getting difficult now. Plus, the Mehta’s want their grand daughter back.”

Geet turned towards her mother and again requested her.

” Mama, they are your parents. They are getting old please. If not maniha’s marriage but atleast we can relocate.”

“I will think about it geet.” Mamta didn’t said much. She knew about their financial condition. She also knew how her parents wanted to reconcile but she also knew that they will never accept her elder daughter geet and she will not allow someone to do that.

For her Geetanjali was her daughter and there’s no hidden truth in that.
